SEANICE LENAY
I try to create art that reflects the ways I perceive the world. I rely on a mix of vulnerability, sexuality and eerie subjects with vibrant color to really intensify the way my audience views my work. I want my viewers to be captured by facial expressions, which play a part in telling the stories within my canvases. I also want them to come to my canvases, viewing taboo subjects with an open mind. Growing up feeling dissociated from our bodies, which plays a part in the body dysmorphia so many go through, coming back to the body is a hard journey with many ups and downs. With painting various kinds of free-bodies, I hope my work will help someone get in touch with what they haven’t fully felt or haven’t confronted in a long time. I also want to connect with the audience so they can understand me better.
