MARCEL PALOMAR

Marcel Palomar (he/they) is a self-taught queer artist and full-time student based in Chicago.
Creating everything from acrylic and watercolor portraits to layered pen/pencil notebook
sketches, he transforms any available medium into a snapshot of his disorderly stream of
consciousness. Often starting projects on impulse, he allows a piece to flesh itself out in real
time, with its meaning continuing to evolve as he returns over days or weeks to work on it.
Marcel’s art serves as a space to explore emotions he struggles to put into words, such as those
surrounding his trauma, trans identity, and existence. Although he recognizes not everyone can
relate to these experiences, he welcomes individuals to use his art as a shared safe space,
reflecting on it through the lens of their own life, taking from it what they will.
